Andreas Heuser is a theologian and political scientist. Before his appointment as a Professor for Extra-European Christianity with a focus on Africa at the University of Basel (2012), he was a lecturer in Systematic Theology and Mission Studies at Tumaini University Makumira, Tanzania (2008-2011). Inter-religious dynamics in diverse socio-cultural contexts and the outlines of Christian theologies of religion form integral part of his teaching and research ever since. In his capacity as a former Head of Studies at the Academy of Missions at the University of Hamburg (1998-2005) and as an ecumenical representative of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau (Germany, 2005-2008), he was engaged in local inter-religious dialogue initiatives. He is engaged in multi-sited research on African Instituted Churches (AIC) and the Pentecostal movement in sub-Saharan Africa as well as on migrant Christianity in Germany and Switzerland.<\/p>\n
