Francis Messner is the promoter of the INTER-RELIGIO project. Former fellow of the Von Humboldt Stiftung, he is Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS, a lecturer at the University of Strasbourg and head of the Master of Islamology at the University of Strasbourg. Director of the Journal of the Law of Religions, he conducts research in the field of the law of religions and relations between the State, society and religions. He is a member of the Bureau of the European Consortium for Church State Studies and has been a mission officer to the Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research and the Minister of the Interior. Visiting Professor at the University of Come and Siena and at the Institute of Religious Sciences in Hanoi, he has directed numerous national and international research programmes including the ‘Public Funding of Religions’ financed by the European Union. He is also a member of the guidance council of the ‘Fondation de l ‘Islam de France’ and of the office and scientific council of the Institute of local Alsatian law in Moselle.<\/p>\n
