Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue Experimental Training Courses

“Understanding Religions” – Workshop
Focusing on the interreligious dimension in each religion, the first training session in collaboration with the Association AMSED was held on 1 April 2021 and was led by Professor Denis FRICKER and Professor Moussa ABOU RAMADAN. The training concept was based on the following question – “how each individual positions himself/herself in relation to his/her religion or non-religion in relationship with others” and was considering the complexity of the founding texts of Muslim and Christian religions. The workshop took place at the University of Strasbourg and brought together a heterogeneous group of young people, who are part of the AMSED Association and several of them with a migrant background.

“Religion and Alimentation” – Workshop
The second training session took place on 3 June 2021 and was conducted by Professor Denis FRICKER and Professor  Moussa ABOU RAMADAN. The workshop carried the title “Religion and Alimentation” and attempted to respond to the following questions “What do Christians, Muslims and people of no religion eat or not eat and how are the food practices reflected in the religions? The participants were able to discuss the pre-selected texts in the two working groups, and then debrief and present the result of the group discussions at the end of the workshop.

Internal Laws of Religions – Presentation/Seminar
The last experimental training session was held on 17 June 2021 in the form of a presentation seminar followed by a Question & Answer session. It was led by Professor Francis MESSNER and Professor Moussa ABOU RAMADAN. The presentation was built up around the following question: “Is the law of God superior over the law of men? The participants had the opportunity to discover the differences between the law of God and the law of men and to learn what the different religions and the state can do to avoid tensions and conflicts between state law and religious rules.
