Interreligious Conferences: Religions 4.0 “Religions in the Digital Age”

Particular feature related to the maintenance of the Concordat in the departments of Alsace-Moselle, the Grand Est Region perpetuates the tradition of interreligious dialogue in resonance with a secularism interpreted as a public, open and positive link.

The Interreligious Committee frequently gathers representatives of the various religious and spiritual communities in the region, offering them an opportunity to have a regular, open and respectful dialogue with their counterparts. The primary purpose of this Committee is to foster an ever-deeper insight into the other, his or her convictions and culture. It therefore supports initiatives, actions and meetings promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue. Finally, it is intended to provide information, with a mission of monitoring and questioning.

It is in this format that Catherine Zuber and Odile Barreault, regional councilors and co-facilitators of the Interreligious Committee for the Grand Est Region, will inaugurate the Interreligious Forum at the Region’s headquarters in Strasbourg on Wednesday 13 November 2019.

For its sixth edition, the Grand Est Region and the Interfaith Committee have chosen to dedicate this conference to the theme: “Religions in the Digital Age”. To do so, they invited Mr. David Douyère, University Professor in Information and Communication Sciences at the University of Tours. After a foreword on each subject, he will engage in a dialogue with the representatives of the religions and, in the late morning, with the public.

These Conferences, which aim to bring together communities of different religions and interfaith dialogue groups, are open to the general public. The INTER-RELIGIO team hopes to see you at this event, whose rich subject matter promises inspiring sessions and exchanges during this important time of interfaith dialogue.
