The INTER-RELIGIO training offer goes beyond borders once again

The range of INTER-RELIGIO training courses is expanding and is increasingly affirming its transrhenan identity! As the universities of Strasbourg and Basel, which offer a separate university degree and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), the University of Heidelberg now also offers a CAS “Religiöse Pluralität in Theorie und Praxis“. It is a short and graduating course on the knowledge, practices, and foundations of interreligious dialogue. This new training offer in Heidelberg has recently received the official approval of the rector of this academic institution, Germany’s oldest university.

Also in Heidelberg, the Master’s degree initiated by INTER-RELIGIO was also granted such approval. This concerns more specifically the international course “Interreligious Studies”, under the name “Masterstudiengang Interreligiöse Studien (Interreligious Studies)” which started at the beginning of the 2019 academic year. It will also soon be possible to study this international course at the University of Basel, starting in spring 2020, under the name “Master of Arts in Interreligious Studies“. Developed as a Joint Program by the INTER-RELIGIO team, this course offers the opportunity to enroll in one of the three partner universities (Strasbourg, Heidelberg or Basel) and to attend the courses given at the three sites. Thus, this specialized training, which has as its objective teaching and research in the field of interreligious education, is evolving by affirming its inherently cross-border dimension. It is now possible to address a contemporary theme in these universities in the Upper Rhine region: religious plurality in Europe.

As a reminder, this Joint Program has been designed by the universities of Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Tübingen, and Basel as well as by the University of Freiburg im Breisgau and the Institute of Jewish Studies of Heidelberg. It is carried by the Faculté de théologie catholique in Strasbourg. In Heidelberg, the training is led by the Diakoniewissenschaftlichen Instituts of the University of Heidelberg, and in Basel by the Theologische Fakultät. This is a unique Master’s degree in the public university environment.

This training is labeled by EUCOR – the European Campus. Find all the information about this Joint Program on their website:
